Sadly, in July,10-year-old Julian lost his life in a tragic traffic accident. Julian’s extended ABATE family jumped in to help his family in their crisis. The Star City Chapter hosted the Ride for Julian Memorial Ride on September 19. Several ABATE chapters and other organizations provided a great turnout. 126 riders on 95 bikes registered for the ride from the Vinton Big Lots to TBD BBQ in Rocky Mount in a single, large pack, with a stop in Bedford.
I need to give a special shout-out to the blockers. They did a phenomenal, very professional job. Thanks also go out to the Bedford and Franklin County Sheriff’s offices for providing escorts. Altogether, the event raised over $4500. I never cease to be amazed by the way we come together. I am posting a few pictures but click this Facebook link to watch a beautiful photo and music collage of the event.
