It is about that time. Though we still have some good riding weather and community outreach events coming, the political season is already gearing up. We have both mid-term federal elections and the 2027 General Assembly session coming up faster than you might think.
I need to thank Senator David Suetterlein for meeting with us at his Roanoke office today. Also, a big thanks to our Legislative Liaison for Blue Ridge Backroads Chapter, Ronald Bailey, for setting it up. Some of you may remember that Sen. Suetterlein sponsored SB 15 to establish rider improvement clinics for us this past session. He helped us get it through two committees before it ran into trouble.
The Senator and his legislative director met with us for over an hour. We discussed that issue and several others. Strategy was also pondered and he gave us names of people to contact on some of the other items we talked about. Gaining insight from folks actually in the system is invaluable in reaching our goals. This is a great example of how OUR government is supposed to work and building these relationships with our legislators and local government officials is critical to successful outcomes.
